Introducing urlShort 2.0.0
urlShort Project. Version 2.0.0 features a revamped and updated user interface for both the web and bookmarklet views, a brand new automatic installer (complete with options for specific features), basic statistics (total visits since creation), optional embedded media (.FLV, .MP3, .GIF, .JPG, & .PNG), and sub-directory support for URLs, plus copy to clipboard (finally)!
urlShort 2.0.0 is the result of many hours of hard work from the two newest contributors to the urlShort project; Tobie Booth (giod) and m0nkee. Without them, this release would have taken a great longer to complete, and would be lacking in features. Instead, version 2.0.0 is packed full of new features. The most visible of course, include the updated UI, bookmarklet, copy to clipboard, the simple and automatic installer, and embedded media. But in addition to those five, some others that are less visible are just as important, including early implementation of statistics tracking (currently only total clicks), anti-phishing with PhishTank, sub-directory accessibility, custom name filters/blacklisting, fully configurable install path and application names, optional/configurable modules for media embeds, and of course bug fixes. Not only is this release include the largest number of changes in urlShort's history, it's also the most tested, and tweaked. With a firm timeline now in place (much thanks to Tobie), everything's been completed and tested up to the release. From now on releases for urlShort will see a stable release every month, with new features added incrementally according to our roadmap. Looking forward, we're going to work to create an administration backend including module, template (theme), and language systems, as well as continue to create new features for users.
